Pézenas

Pézenas

Pézenas is a city rich in history. The streets of the old Pézenas are dotted with historical monuments that are worth a visit: the Saint-Jean Collegiate Church (18th century), the theater (formerly the Black Penitents’ Chapel), the Jewish ghetto (12th century) And the convent of the Ursulines (19th century) …
Pézenas is also “the town of Molière”: it was a favorite place of residence for Molière and his Illustrious Theater during numerous tours and trips in the provinces between 1646 and 1657.
Perhaps this is why Pézenas deserves its appellation as a city of arts with the organization of 9 festivals and numerous shows throughout the year (music, theater, opera, humor, etc …).
