Ursulines
Soak up the tradition of the Occitanie region of Southern France: join us at the majestic Couvent des Ursulines!
In the Occitanie region of the South of France, at the heart of Herault, sits Pézenas, which since Roman times has been the beating heart of culture of the region. Best known for the playwright Moliere and the works he composed here, Pézenas was a crossroads of history from the ancient Romans to present day, with the majority of the architecture of the old town deriving from Medieval Times. The cobble stoned streets of Pezenas are still lined with local artisan stores and art galleries. In the 1700’s, the Ursuline Nuns opened a convent here as a school for local French girls. The convent weathered two World Wars as a hospital for French soldiers run by the nuns, and was later inhabited by an illustrious French family.
Today, the Couvent has been fully renovated to retain its historical significance yet ensure it has all the modern amenities necessary for a comfortable stay. Marvel in the high ceilings and the stone architecture that still make it a bastion of security, while appreciating the modern, artisan created ironwork of its stairways and finishes. After a restful night indulging in a comfortable bed, take a short stroll to the remarkable cafes, artisan shops, open markets and theaters that make the nearby village of Pezenas delightful. You’ll love the blend of old world charm and modern elegance of the Couvent des Ursulines.
The original structure of the Couvent included a walled garden, designed to create an outdoor sanctuary for its inhabitants. We are proud to continue this tradition by retaining the garden walls while adding a few more modern conveniences, such as our enclosed private pool. In addition, each apartment has its own, newly renovated private garden area, perfect for guests to privately enjoy the sun or have a meal "en plein air". If you are traveling with a larger group, the communal area under our many shade trees is ideal for picnics and group gatherings. A small children’s play area also gives families a safe option for children. The garden is a relaxed, casual retreat to enjoy the outdoors. We invite you to soak up the serenity of the space, or to join other guests for a communal meal beneath our canopy of trees.

Testimonials
"We loved our week long stay, came for a wedding and did not want to leave. We loved waking up with large shuttered windows in the idyllic setting. Great accommodations, everything you need, very clean and spacious, and then there were the fabulous showers !! We were able to barbecue a couple of nights and use the pool each day. It is ideal for couples and families, even on weekends with friends."

"When you open the door to The Convent, you are admitted into the magnificent ‘secret garden’ which occupies a large space in front of the restored convent. Each apartment has a private patio, and the expansive garden also has additional seating clusters, barbecues, a beautiful pool, a play area, hammock and more. The apartments are spacious and very well equipped. Two couples can enjoy privacy in the two separate bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms. The location is fantastic, within walking distance of everything in the charming town of Pezenas. The hosts are warm, welcoming and very helpful. We will come back for the Convent!"
